Schizophrenia – The Journey to Recovery

Schizophrenia affects about 1% of the Irish population and involves hallucinations, hearing voices and an altered perception of reality.  It is extremely distressing for those suffering it and for anyone close to them.  Recently John Saunders, director of Schizophrenia Ireland, was at a conference, called The Journey to Recovery which focused on how people can recover from schizophrenia and become involved in society again.  Miriam Gormally first asked John to explain why the disease can be such a difficult condition.
