Demise of the NCPI

After 31 years in existence the NCPI – the National Council of Priests of Ireland – disbanded recently at their AGM in Athlone. Many reasons have been cited as to why this has happened – low morale, apathy – whatever the reasons, priests no longer have such a forum to address their concerns.  Eileen Good asked Fr. Bill Birmingham spokesman for the wind-up committee of the NCPI about the organisation.
