New Life for Old Church
A group of energetic university students from across Dublin have come together to re-establish regular worship in St Thomas’ Church of Ireland Church, by bringing Gospel Music into this historic Anglican Church.
Standing at the gateway of O’Connell Street into Dublin’s North East Inner City, it was first established in 1758 and then rebuilt and uniquely paid for by the Irish Free State Government after its destruction in the Civil War of 1922.
The Student Gospel Music Services, called ‘ONE Dublin’, begin on Sunday 21st October at 7.30pm. Music will be led by Discovery Gospel Choir and worship and preaching will be led by members of the Anglican Chaplaincy Team at Third Level (ACT3), a network of Church of Ireland Chaplains working in Dublin Universities.
‘ONE Dublin’ Services will take place on Sunday 21st October (Harvest), Sunday 18th November (Remembrance) and Sunday 9th December (Advent) from 7.30-9.00pm in St Thomas’s Church, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1.
Miriam Gormally spoke with Phllip McKinley, chaplain with DCU to find out more about the project.
