Pope Francis is the first Jesuit Pope as well as being the first Pope from the Americas. Known as Jorge Bergoglio, the 76-year-old is renowned for being humble and living a simple life forgoing many of the luxuries previous cardinals enjoyed. He considers social outreach, rather than doctrinal battles, to be the essential business of the church. Miriam Gormally met Brendan Staunton also a Jesuit and chaplain in St. Vincent’s Private to find out how he felt about the first Pope from his order. But first she asked him what qualities we could hope to look for in this new Pope.
