Christianity and the G8
Church of Ireland Bishops and Archbishops issued a statement ahead of the G8 Summit in Co. Fermanagh. In it they urged the leaders of the G8 to make the fundamental goal of ensuring that nobody goes to be hungry a reality. They also expressed that:
“From our perspective as religious leaders, the work of civil government is a holy task and a calling of the most sacred kind. The equitable management of economic affairs has the potential to bring many benefits to a de–moralised world.”
Miriam Gormally met with Rev. Gordon Linney, retired Archdeacon of Dublin and writer of the Thinking Anew column in the Irish Times to find out whether he thought this statement had made any impact on the G8 leaders.
