War in Syria
There are many conflict zones around the world at any given time and often we can quickly forget them once the news cycle has moved on. Syria is a country that has been locked in conflict since pro-democracy protests erupted in March 2011. Violence escalated and the country descended into civil war.
Trócaire recently invited Bishop Antoine Audo, a Jesuit, to visit Ireland and speak to various groups of people about life in Syria. He is bishop of Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria and one where much of the fighting is taking place.
Pat Coyle spoke with Bishop Audo and he provides a unique opportunity to hear stories ‘from the ground’ about life in Syria before the conflict and since, and to ask a pertinent question ‘when might it end and how?’
