Aoife Hearne from Operation Transformation to host ‘Tigers’
The promotion of formula is very problematic, so says Aoife Hearne, Dietician from Operation Transformation and member of BFGLI, Baby Feeding Law Group Ireland. BFGLI They will be holding a private screening of the movie ‘Tigers’ in the Light House cinema in Dublin on Monday April 8th. 12 years in the making, ‘Tigers’ is based on the true story of a Pakistani salesman, Syed Aamir Raza (played in the film by major Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi) employed by Nestle, one of the world’s largest corporations who learns that his promotion of baby formula to doctors is causing babies to die. He risks everything to make it stop, taking on the industry with the help of Cambridge-based Baby Milk Action.
Miriam Gormally spoke with Aoife Hearne, about the strengthening, protection and promotion of infant nutrition legislation in Ireland. Miriam asked Aoife to explain more about the benefits of breast feeding and some of the problems around the promotion of formula.
