Meeting Family Needs
In this piece from the archive, from 2012, we hear from Fr Peter Henriot SJ is an American Jesuit and political scientist who has been working in Zambia and Malawi for the last 20 years. In Zambia he worked in the Jesuit Centre for Theological reflection which -not as it name would suggest -actually had a huge impact on local people, empowering them to struggle for just wages and the right to a life free from grinding poverty and oppression. He talked to Pat Coyle about his work at the centre and its ‘food basket’ programme, which has been adopted for use in countries all over Africa. She first put it to him that the title ‘centre for theological reflection’ had a nice ring to it, but what exactly did it mean?
